// Madeleine’s poems reinforce my appreciation of the unremarkable which makes up so much of our lives. Things and moments become remarkable when we become aware of how they are the very fabric of what makes us unique. Each of us perceives reality uniquely; to know this is affirmative of our identity, and enhances our appreciation of the sheer plenitude of human being. Poetry itself, as expression of human being, is a means of nudging us towards such awareness. Through it, the quotidian transforms in our perception to that which is peculiarly our world. Once transformed, nothing mundane remains unremarkable.
